Policies & Payments

In order to give your pet the best medical care possible and to continue to support the well-being of our staff, we will be upholding the policies listed below. Please practice kindness with our team and adhere to the following clinic policies, or you will be asked to seek care elsewhere.

  • Prepayment may be required for a phone consult or telemedicine appointment. For new clients, a non-refundable prepayment for the exam will be required to hold the appointment spot.
  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your pet's appointment for any reason, you agree to give our team as much notice as possible. To avoid a fee, a minimum of 24 business hours notice is required to reschedule an appointment, and 48 hours for surgeries or dental procedures. Fees are $75 for an exam or $30 for a technician appointment.
  • If you arrive late for your appointment, it will be the doctor’s discretion if they can see you or not. If they are unable to, it will be treated as a late cancellation, and the fee will apply.
  • If you do not give prior notice for canceling an appointment, future scheduling of appointments will require a non-refundable prepayment.
  • Appointment times range between 30 and 45 minutes. Multiple health issues cannot be addressed in a single appointment. You may need to schedule a follow-up appointment or phone consult if there are multiple issues or if you have additional questions for the Doctor that go beyond the allotted appointment time.
  • To provide you and your pet with individualized care, we do not schedule back-to-back doctor appointments for multi-pet households. Only one pet is allowed in the room at a time. This maintains focus and clarity and does not jumble information.
  • Irvington Veterinary Clinic practice is a fear-free/low-stress principle. This means we will not force pets into treatments if they are exhibiting signs of fear, anxiety, or stress. If a pet has been prescribed pre-visit anti-anxiety medication, please give it as prescribed. If the exam or treatment is unable to be performed due to your pet's stress level, you will still be charged for that visit and any follow-up visits needed. If you have further questions or would like more information about low-stress handling, the clinic team is happy to provide that to you.
  • For the stress of your pet and the health of our team, we request that you limit the number of people that come to the appointments.
  • For all TECHNICIAN APPOINTMENTS, you can bring your pet into the clinic. However, due to space limitations, you may not be able to accompany your pet for testing or treatments.
  • To minimize traffic in the lobby and adhere to our fear-free principles, we still ask you to call from your car when you arrive for ALL appointments.
  •  For the safety and well-being of all pets, dogs must be on leash at all times, and cats must be in carriers.
  • If you have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days, have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, or if you are feeling sick, please reschedule your appointment. If your pet needs immediate care, please coordinate with someone outside of your household to bring the pet in.

We kindly request 24 hours' notice if you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment to avoid incurring a fee.

  • Within a week after your pet’s exam or consult, you may email brief clarifying questions. For Doctor appointments, please review the exam summary in detail before reaching out. For questions that are beyond clarifying, or if your pet hasn't been seen for this particular issue within 1-2 weeks, a follow-up appointment or a telemedicine/phone consult may be needed. This will allow the Veterinarian time to thoroughly discuss your pet's needs.
  • For all non-urgent questions email the clinic at info@irvingtonveterinary.com. It may take 3-5 business days for a response from my Veterinarian or the team for questions, medication refills, and lab results. Medication refills will be charged a rush fee if needed within 24 hours.
  • Irvington Veterinary Clinic works to keep your pet with its primary Veterinarian. This provides continuity and the best medical care. If your Veterinarian is out of the office, it may take up to a week for a response. Urgent questions or concerns will require you to schedule an appointment/consultation with another one of our Veterinarians.

Payment is due at the time services are rendered. We accept a variety of payment options, including cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and CareCredit.
